Arab Parliament Rejects Foreign Interference in Libya

The Chairman of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdel-Rahman Al-Asoumi, stressed the need to preserve the stability, unity and integrity of Libya while rejecting external interference in Libyan affairs.

Al-Asoumi explained that foreign interference in Libya was not only detrimental locally but also regionally. He affirmed the Arab Parliament’s support for a comprehensive political solution to rebuild the Libyan state and unify its institutions.

He appreciated the statement issued by the ‘Follow-Up Committee and Political Consultation’ between Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The statement confirmed the two countries’ rejection of regional interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries.

The Egyptian-Saudi statement stressed the importance of Arab countries’ role in solving the region’s crises, within the framework of international law.

The chairman expressed the Arab Parliament’s support for the continuation and strengthening of the coordination mechanism between its members. This mechanism strongly contributes to strengthening joint Arab action as well as protecting and strengthening Arab national security.
