The health authorities in Libya are seeking to import two million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The Supreme Committee to Combat the Coronavirus pandemic in Libya confirmed that it is embarking on measures to supply the first batch of the vaccine with two million doses. It confirmed the opening of a financial credit to the National Centre for Diseases for this purpose.

Libya has witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of people infected with the disease since the beginning of September, and the highest number of infections has reached 1,639 per day.

So far, the total number of coronavirus cases in Libya has reached 93,772. For now, 63,886 of the cases have been recovered, and 1,346 cases have died.

The committee consisting of the Chief of Staff of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Lieutenant General Abdulrazak al-Nadhouri, the Minister of Health Saad Agoub and Minister of Interior Ibrahim Boushnaf discussed several issues, including providing oxygen in isolation centres and working to satisfy needs, whether from the internal or external market.

It was also agreed to develop oxygen plants and install other factories to meet the needs. They also discussed the defect in the oxygen network at the Benghazi Medical Centre, and put emphasis on completing the repair process as soon as possible.
