Spokesman for the ‘Coronavirus Control Committee in Sebha’, Salah Ibrahim confirmed that the epidemiological situation in the city is worsening.

In press statements, Ibrahim indicated that the city is experiencing the height of the second wave of the virus, and that the death rate ranges between four to six deaths per day.

Ibrahim added that the infections have also affected medical personnel, claiming the life of a doctor. This is due to overcrowding in the isolation rooms, lack of oxygen, limited operating materials, PCR tests, and a shortage of medicines.

Earlier this month, Head of Libya’s ‘Scientific Advisory Committee for Combating Coronavirus’, Khalifa Al-Bakoush stated that the electronic vaccine registration system will officially launch on Monday. This will determine the time and place for citizens to receive a vaccine, and will be implemented through mobile text messages.
