On Saturday, the eastern-based Interim Government, headed by Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thani, launched a sterilization campaign for cities and regions under its control. The activities will take place during curfew hours and will be carried out by the National Safety Authority, Civil Defense, and the Water and Sewage Company.

According to the Interim Government’s media office, this is part of a series of measures taken by authorities in the east of Libya to combat the emerging Covid-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister al-Thani issued instructions to sterilize institutional headquarters, main streets of cities, regions and various municipal areas south and west of Libya. The campaign is led by civil defense chief Abdulaziz Al-Orfi.
