Benghazi Medical Center has launched an intensive clinical training programme in infection prevention and control, with the participation of 66 doctors who graduated from the Faculty of Public Health.

The programme aims to prepare specialised national medical staff, improve patient safety, and raise the quality of healthcare services inside medical institutions.

The initiative is designed as a practical and scientific training programme that combines academic knowledge with direct field experience. Participants will receive intensive clinical training inside healthcare facilities, allowing them to gain practical skills in infection prevention, monitoring safety procedures, and applying modern international standards.

Dr. Monaem Obaid said the programme was designed to be close in structure to a professional internship year, due to the intensity of the training and the direct engagement with real medical environments.

He explained that the main goal is to prepare doctors who specialise in infection control and are able to analyse risks, make decisions, and deal with different challenges inside healthcare institutions.

Obaid added that investment in the training and development of human resources is one of the key pillars of the vision of Benghazi Medical Center’s Director General, Professor Khaled Al-Jazwi.

He said the programme aims to prepare a qualified generation capable of leading infection control programmes, promoting patient safety, improving healthcare quality, and reducing health risks inside medical care environments.

Those supervising the programme said the continuation of such training activities reflects growing interest in developing specialised healthcare fields and improving the efficiency of workers involved in infection prevention and control.

They added that the programme will help build a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable healthcare system.

The initiative is seen as an important step towards establishing a national base of specialists in infection prevention and control. It is also expected to support better medical practices, strengthen a culture of quality and safety inside healthcare institutions, and help provide improved health services to citizens.

Benghazi Medical Center said the programme forms part of broader efforts to develop healthcare performance, support professional training, and strengthen infection control systems across medical facilities.
