On Monday, the Municipal Council of Ghadames, announced that the city will impose a total lockdown, beginning in the evening in a step aimed at curbing the Coronavirus outbreak.
In a statement, the Council stated that any attempts to violate the lockdown would be swiftly blocked, stressing that no one would be allowed to enter the city from this point onwards. Residents who are not currently present in the city, will not be allowed to return until the end of the COVID-19 crisis, it added.
On Sunday, the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) extended the curfew hours in Libya. The newly imposed curfew hours begin from 2 P.M. until 7 A.M. Additionally movement between cities and newly revised government working hours were announced, with operational hours being from 9 A.M-12 P.M.
The Libyan National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported five more patients had been diagnosed with Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Libya to eight.
