Deputy Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni made a telephone call to the Health Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Ali Al-Zanati on Sunday.

According to a tweet published by Al-Koni’s media office, the two discussed the latest epidemiological developments in Libya. Al-Zanati confirmed that the vaccine had reached the south, and that the vaccination process had begun in several health centers.

Last week, the GNU announced that a fourth batch of COVID-19 vaccine, including 150,000 doses of China’s Sinovac vaccine had arrived from Turkey. This brings the total number of vaccines received to about 400,000 doses.

The Head of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar has said that 18 municipalities are now ready to receive the vaccines.
