Libyan Parliament to Hold Budgetary Session Next Week

June 10, 2021

Libyan Parliament Speaker, Ageela Saleh called on MP’s to attend a Parliamentary session to discuss the 2021 budget, and appointment of sovereign state positions.

“The Speaker of the Libyan Parliament invites all MPs to the official session that will be held next Monday, at the headquarters in Tobruk. This is to discuss the draft law of the state’s general budget for the year 2021, and the sovereign positions,” the Parliament said in a statement on Wednesday.

On 20 April, the Parliament rejected the draft budget for 2021, returning it to the Prime Minister for review and amendment.

The primary reason for the rejection was that the budget was too large for an interim government, and lacked a strong monitoring mechanism.
