On Monday, the head of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar, said that Libya will pass the risk stage of COVID-19 should the next 15 days continue without new infection cases.

He noted that the epidemiological situation of COVID-19 in Libya was reassuring as it has not spread widely within the country. He pointed out that the first case was responding positively to treatment and likely to be discharged from the hospital.

Al-Najjar said that medical facilities are improving daily and isolation rooms have begun to receive cases, praising the commitment of citizens to the preventive measures taken by the country.

The NCDC announced on April 5th that eighteen cases have been confirmed in Libya, with a single death being recorded. 31 new suspected cases were transferred from the Community Health Reference Laboratory to the NCDC, only one case tested positive for the virus.
