First Case of COVID-19 Confirmed in Benghazi

On Tuesday evening, the spokesman for the Advisory Committee to Address Coronavirus, Ahmed Al-Hassi, confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in Libya’s second largest city, Benghazi.

Al-Hassi stated that a 55 year old man who had returned from Turkey via Tunisia tested positive for the virus.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Libya is now 20. This includes one patient who has successfully recovered, and an 85 year old patient who died from complications related to the virus.

The Libyan National Center for Disease Control reported that all known cases were in stable conditions and are expected to make a full recovery during the coming days.
