Algeria will host a foreign ministers meeting for the countries neighbouring Libya on 30 and 31 of August.

The meeting aims to help Libya find a peaceful political solution to its crisis, indicating that the foreign ministers of seven countries will participate, namely Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Sudan, Chad, and Niger.

Sources told Echorouk Online that representatives of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and the African Union will also participate in the meeting.

Earlier this month, the Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush held a telephone conversation with her Algerian counterpart, Ramtane Lamamra, and discussed the prospects for a peaceful settlement of the Libyan crises.

The two FM’s said that a settlement would need to preserve the independence and territorial integrity of Libya.

“We exchanged views on the prospects for a peaceful solution in Libya that fulfils the aspirations of the Libyan people, and preserves the independence and territorial integrity of their country,” Lamamra tweeted.
