On Thursday, Libyan Parliament Speaker, Ageela Saleh said holding the December elections on time is the only way to end the crisis in the country, explaining that the future president will need to work on achieving reconciliation and unification of state institutions.

Saleh arrived on Thursday to Rabat on an official two-day visit, and held a joint press conference with Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita.

Saleh stressed the importance of the elections, describing them as “critical for Libya’s future.” He called on the international community to help ensure that they will be held on time. He warned against delays, as it would “aggravate the situation in Libya, and cause greater divisions between the various parties.”

In turn, Bourita called on all Libyan institutions to engage and assume their responsibilities in preparing for the elections as scheduled, and that the Libyan crisis can only be resolved through democratic practices.
