The Prime Minister of Libya’s Interim Government, Abdullah Al-Thini, said on Thursday that his government will provide accommodation for Libyan citizens, who are currently stranded abroad due to the COVID-19 crisis.

This came during a meeting in Benghazi, with Foreign Minister Hadi Al-Huwij. The two discussed the situation of Libyan communities currently abroad and the steps needed to be taken to aid them. Libya’s airports, land borders and sea ports were closed as part of government measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Al-Thini and Al-Huwij also stressed the need to address the UN Security Council, concerning attacks against civilian objects, such as warehouses, fuel tankers and medical equipment by forces loyal to the Government of National Accord, claiming “this was a flagrant violation of United Nations resolutions on Libya.”.
