On Monday, Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush travelled to Algeria to discuss the latest political situation with a number of Algerian officials.

Al-Mangoush’s visit comes a day after her meeting in Tripoli with the organizers of the International Energy Economic Summit. She also met with the Deputy Director of the American-Libyan Chamber of Commerce. During the meeting, she stressed the importance of the summit as it, “represents an important step on the road to supporting economic stability in Libya.”

Al-Mangoush is the Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the summit, which is to be held in Tripoli on 22-23 November.

Recently, the Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush, said that there is a real danger of civil war arising after the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, but says “there is always hope.”

In an interview with the BBC, Al-Mangoush said that she hopes that the elections will be free and fair. She said that; “we have some security issues and concerns and I hope this is not going to affect the election process.”

In August, Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune received Al-Mangoush and other regional counterparts in a meeting of foreign ministers of Libya’s neighbouring countries.

President Tebboune reiterated his supportive stance to achieve stability in Libya. He pointed to the harsh conditions and conflicts that Algiers faced during the ‘black decade’ of the 1990s.

He also noted the measures taken to end the crisis, and expressed his optimism about the Libyans’ ability to resolve their differences and stabilize the country.

The President stressed that the stability of Libya meant stability for the entire region, and for neighbouring countries in particular. He emphasised the need for neighbouring states to play a greater role and support all efforts aimed at achieving stability in Libya.
