President Qais Saied of Tunisia said that his country’s position towards Libya was clearly in support of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).

In a phone call with the GNA Prime Minister Fayez Al-Sarraj, President Saied claimed that “any statement that contradicts the official Tunisian position should not disturb the strong and profound relationship between the two brotherly countries.”

“Tunisia rejects foreign interference in Libyan affairs, and it is time for these interventions to stop and leave the Libyan people the opportunity to solve their problems and live in peace,” Saied stated, expressing “confidence in the government’s ability to extend its powers over the entire Libyan territory.”

Saied stressed that “the solution can only be one that expresses the sovereign will of the Libyan people.”
