The Libyan consulate in Istanbul said that, starting Saturday, those who wished to return to Libya would first be tested for COVID-19. This is in addition to a necessary 14 day quarantine before being allowed to return.

Both governments in Libya have taken measures secure the return of Libyans stranded abroad.

The consulate’s statement claimed it would conduct daily examinations for 650 cases, adding that they would conduct further tests after the end of the quarantine period.

Meanwhile, the administration of Mitiga International Airport called on citizens stranded abroad in Turkey, Tunisia and Egypt to contact embassies and consulates to start medical examination procedures in preparation for their return to Libya after confirming they are free from COVID-19.
