Algeria has renewed its calls to adopt a comprehensive and lasting political solution in Libya. It stressed its firm stance to respect the free will of the Libyan people and implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

According to a statement issued by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “Algeria is following with great concern the recent developments of the situation in Libya, against the backdrop of the increasing escalation between the conflicting political parties”.

In its statement, the Ministry reiterated calls for a comprehensive national dialogue detached from foreign interference. It stressed that Algeria fully supported the Libyan people during this delicate stage in time, pointing out that it will always support Libya’s security, stability and development.

The Libyan National Army (LNA) announced that a constitutional declaration would be made in the coming days, including a new roadmap that aims to meet the aspirations of the people to live in a safe, stable and democratic country.

The LNA has also agreed to a ceasefire during the holy month of Ramadan, saying that this came at the request of the international community.
