On Monday, the Libyan Parliament-designated Prime Minister, Fathi Bashagha held a meeting with the President of Sirte University, Dr. Suleiman Al-Shater.
They discussed the needs of the university, and the progress of the educational process. As well as the status of the university’s infrastructure, building maintenance, classrooms, laboratories, and administrative buildings.
During the meeting, Bashagha praised the efforts of the university president, faculty members, and administrators.
On Saturday, Bashagha called on the Parliament and the High Council of State (HCS) to accelerate their pace of dialogue. He stressed the need to “reach a constitutional basis and a unified government that leads the country to Presidential and Parliamentary elections and to restore national sovereignty.”
This came in a thread on his Twitter account, on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of Libya’s independence.
Bashagha urged “all Libyans to follow the example of the founding fathers in upholding the national interest above narrow interests.” He also called for “overcoming differences and moving towards comprehensive national reconciliation and building a modern civil state.”
Notably, the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar said that “the unity of Libya is a red line, and we will never allow any encroachment on it.”
During his speech on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of Libya’s independence, he confirmed that, “the LNA General Command announces a final opportunity through which a roadmap is drawn, and elections are held.”
“Libya is still one and indivisible,” warning “those who try to harm it,” Haftar noted.
“We recall that we are the first to call for free, fair, and transparent elections, and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) must shoulder its responsibility to solve the Libyan crisis,” Haftar confirmed.
“We stress the necessity of the equitable distribution of oil revenues, without marginalization,” he pointed out.
