The Spokesman for the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, stated that Turkey’s military intervention in Libya has prolonged the crisis in the country.

He added that Government of National Accord (GNA) forces misinterpreted the LNA’s statements of repositioning as a retreat.

“The tactical withdrawal in some areas was aimed at luring militias,” Al-Mismari said, adding that “Turkey’s deployment of foreign fighters to Libya directly threatens the national security of countries in the region.”

“Turkey continues to send elements from ISIS and other organizations to Libya,” he added.

Al-Mismari claimed that the LNA has regained control of an important hub in southern Tripoli after the LNA ceasefire was rejected.
