Russia Receives Notification From EU for IRINI’s Launch

Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN), Vasily Nebenzya, said that his country had been notified by the European Union of its decision to launch the “IRINI” operation in the Mediterranean.

Nebenzya expected that this operation would comply with international law and the UN’s Security Council resolutions by covering the entire Libyan coast, stressing that any imbalance in such a sensitive issue might undermine international efforts to establish dialogue between the Libyan parties.

He also called on the EU to continue contacts with all parties to the Libyan conflict.
