On Monday, the Libyan National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 12 new cases of Coronavirus, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 168.

In its latest statement, the NCDC said that it had received a batch of 658 suspected cases, 646 of which had tested negative for the virus.

The NCDC noted that the new positive tally included:

1) 11 persons who had been in contact with infected cases.

2) 1 new case in Sebha.

The city of Sebha, in southern Libya, has recorded a spike in the number of infections over the past few days.

Libya currently has 111 active cases under medical observation, 52 successful recoveries, and 5 deaths.

Several Arab countries have tightened restrictions on movement, and travel with the aim of curbing the spread of the virus.

Trillions of dollars have been pledged in economic stimulus packages around the world to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.
