Egypt and Germany Stress Need to Adhere to Berlin Conference Resolutions on Libya

On Wednesday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed the latest developments in Libya in a telephone call with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated.

The two officials agreed on the importance of implementing the goals set forth during the Berlin Conference, in addition to supporting the UN’s efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution in a way that achieves security, stability, and contributes to fighting extremist groups in Libya.

Shoukry and Maas also discussed the latest developments surrounding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, as well as the latest updates on the Palestinian issue and efforts to revive the peace process. The two cautioned against unilateral actions that threaten these efforts.

The two Foreign Ministers also spoke about strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Germany and the latest updates concerning the global COVID-19 pandemic.
