The Italian expert, Daniela Rovinetti revealed that the political role of Fathi Bashagha has ended after failing to enter Tripoli and operate from there.

Daniela Rovinetti, an Italian political analyst and expert on the Decod 39 website, explained that the government of Bashagha was specifically formed to enter Tripoli and replace the expired Government of National Unity (GNU), led by Abdelhamid Dbaiba. However, it failed to do so and appeared weak without any influence on the ground in western Libya. Rovinetti noted that the decision of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) to dismiss Bashagha and refer him for investigation was politically motivated in a larger changing scene.

The Italian expert predicts that Libyan parties may form a new government, including the forces in Tripoli. Confirming that a government representing all parties will be effective and can lead the country practically to hold general elections as soon as possible.

Last Tuesday, the HoR dismissed Bashagha and referred him for investigation, appointing Osama Hamad, who also serves as Minister of Finance, to lead the government. The Spokesperson for the HoR announced that the vote to dismiss Bashagha was unanimous in an official session chaired by Fawzi al-Nuwairi, the Deputy Speaker of the House.

On Saturday, the Speaker of the HoR, Ageela Saleh, stressed the need to form a mini-Cabinet with a 6 to 8-month-mandate of supervising elections impartially and saving the Libyans’ money.

These remarks came during his meeting with a number of notables and tribal Sheikhs of the eastern western and eastern regions of Libya at al-Qubba city, where the attendees demanded an improvement in the political situation in the country. They also discussed the necessity of holding presidential and parliamentary elections during the current year.

On his part, Saleh stressed that national reconciliation is the most important pillar in restoring security and stability in Libya. He praised the patriotic role being played by the Libyan tribes to achieve security and stability in the country, according to a statement by the Parliament media office.

The Speaker also reviewed the Parliament’s work plan in an effort to achieve the will of the Libyans to hold elections as soon as possible, stressing his complete rejection of foreign interference in the country’s affairs.
