The Head of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in Sebha, Abdul Hamid Al-Fakhri, said that Coronavirus cases in southern Libya had risen to 94 as of Thursday, 3 June 2020.

In press statements, Al-Fakhri added that the NCDC has recorded a new infection that has not previously been in contact with a known infected person.

This new case is a citizen in the city of Sebha. The other 9 new cases had all been in contact with previous known cases in Sebha and Al-Shati’e.

Al-Fakhri called on citizens to adhere to quarantine and curfew measures to reduce the spread of the virus in southern cities, pointing out that the monitoring and investigation teams have set out Friday morning to follow up on persons displaying symptoms and take more samples to check for the virus.

Al-Fakhri also added that the Health Services Department equipped the Qarda complex with CT and X-ray equipment to detect Coronavirus cases and take the necessary samples from them, indicating that the Sebha Medical Center is also equipped to detect suspected cases.
