The Egyptian Foreign Ministry called for taking a firm stand against the countries that finance, train, and transfer “terrorists” from Syria into Libya considering the threats and dangers they pose to neighbouring countries, especially the five Sahel states.

This call was annouced during the participation of Egypt’s Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs, Hamdi Sanad Loza, in the first ministerial meeting called by France for the Coalition for the Coast Initiative via video conference.

The initiative aims at combatting terrorism and supporting the defence capabilities of the Sahel states as well as assisting them in the field of development and regional integration.

Loza reviewed, during the ministerial meeting, Egypt’s support to Sahel countries at a bilateral level and in the field of military training and participation in the peacekeeping mission in Mali.
