US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, has discussed with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives (HoR) Yusef Al-Agouri, about the current development in the Libyan territories, according to a statement made by the US embassy.

The two parties agreed it is important for parties to the conflict in Libya to participate in the political and security dialogue led by the United Nations to achieve peace and stability in the country and end external interference.

Over the past few days, the US ambassador has made various contacts with Libyan politicians and representatives via video conference, such as his meeting with representatives of the Supreme Council for the Amazigh, last Monday.

During the meeting, Ambassador Norland reaffirmed his country’s support for efforts led by the United Nations to promote political dialogue between the warring parties in Libya.

Norland stressed that political dialogue in the country could only be successful and legitimate with the meaningful participation of Libya’s indigenous and ethnic groups, including the Amazigh, Tebu, and Tuareg.
