Libyan authorities in Ajdabiya have intensified efforts to combat irregular migration, transferring many undocumented migrants to Benghazi as part of an ongoing security campaign aimed at enforcing immigration laws and strengthening public security.
The Ajdabiya branch of the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency announced that several migrants holding Egyptian and Chadian nationalities were transferred to the agency’s shelter and detention center in Benghazi. The move was carried out to complete the legal procedures required before further action is taken by the relevant authorities.
According to Ibrahim Mohamed Saleh Al-Daqn, Director of the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency branch in Ajdabiya, the operation forms part of a broader security campaign being implemented by the Ajdabiya Security Directorate in coordination with the agency’s Operations Department and other security bodies. The campaign targets undocumented migrants residing within the city and the surrounding areas.
Al-Daqn explained that the operation is being conducted in line with directives issued by competent authorities and within a comprehensive security plan designed to identify violations of immigration regulations and ensure that legal measures are enforced. He stressed that the campaign remains ongoing and will continue in the coming period.
The official added that the initiative aims to support security and stability, preserve public order, and address challenges associated with irregular migration. Authorities say coordinated action among security institutions is essential to managing migration flows and ensuring compliance with national laws.
Ajdabiya Security Director Major General Mubarak Mustafa Bouhrara confirmed that participating security units will continue carrying out their assigned tasks and intensifying efforts to locate and detain undocumented migrants. He emphasized that all individuals apprehended during the campaign will be referred to the relevant authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.
