A massive blaze originating in the electricity company’s warehouses in the Al-Karimiya area, south of Tripoli, has spiraled out of control. Eyewitnesses reported rapid spread in all directions, with flames reaching tens of meters high and loud explosions heard. The fire poses a risk to nearby homes and nearby gas lines.

Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba, Head of the Government of National Unity (GNU), issued forced evacuation orders for residents near affected areas. Ambulances were dispatched, and investigations into the fire’s causes were initiated.

While the cause of the fire and extent of damage remain undisclosed, the Electric Police Department stated that digging operations caused the fire. The General Electricity Company has contacted the Public Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the incident and determine its causes.
