Turkey To Continue Oil Exploration Activities In Libya

On Sunday, Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Dönmez confirmed plans to cooperate with the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) in order to continue exploration and partnerships in the North African country. This comes amid escalating tension between Turkey and Egypt over the Libyan crisis.

Dönmez told CNN that Libya’s natural resources should be firstly used to develop the country and bring prosperity to its people. He added that Turkey will continue its oil exploration activities in Libya by enhancing cooperation with the NOC during the coming period.

The Turkish minister noted that Ankara is planning to establish partnerships in the country under the ‘win-win’ principle and said that Libya showed positive attitude over the matter.

Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA) signed a maritime delimitation deal last year with Turkey, which claims that this creates an exclusive economic zone. This stems from its southern coast to Libya’s northeast coast and protects rights to resources.
