A meeting was held at the headquarters of the outgoing Government of National Unity (GNU) to oversee the final procedures for launching the electronic work residency permit system.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and the Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation of the outgoing government, Ali Al-Abed, along with the Director of the Passport and Nationality Authority, the Secretary-General of the Intelligence Service, the technical team from the Libyan Post, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Company, the Passport and Nationality Authority, and the Director of the Wafid Platform project.
The Director of the Technical Department at the Passport and Nationality Authority provided an update on the implementation of the electronic visa project, confirming that work is progressing well and several issues have been addressed following the launch, in coordination with the Cybersecurity Authority under the General Authority for Communications.
The project director presented a detailed visual report on the recent technical steps taken between the Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation, the Passport and Nationality Authority, and the relevant security agencies regarding the implementation of electronic residency permits.
During the meeting, a practical demonstration of the residency permit issuance process was conducted, outlining the steps involved and reviewing any related comments.
The Director of the Wafid Platform project announced that the system is ready for launch, highlighting its role in organizing foreign labor and facilitating procedures for the Libyan private sector to attract qualified personnel.
Al-Abed affirmed the Ministry of Labour’s commitment to the Prime Minister’s directives to take effective steps to regulate the foreign labor sector at all levels, considering this step crucial for initiating corrective measures in this regard.
