Libyan National Oil Corporation Denies Oil Tanker Docked At An Israeli Port

The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) has categorically denied reports circulating on social media that one of its oil tankers docked at a port in Israel.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the NOC dismissed these claims as an attempt to spread misinformation and disrupt its operations.

The NOC emphasized that its specialised departments maintain constant communication and closely monitor tanker movements and shipping operations through advanced, reliable tracking and navigation systems. These systems cover the movement of tankers worldwide, including in the Mediterranean region.

The controversy arose after a report from the Qatari news outlet, Arabi 21, claimed that the Libyan oil tanker “Anwar al-Nasr” had docked in Haifa, Israel, after departing from Tripoli.

However, the NOC clarified that the tanker was scheduled to sail between Tripoli and Cyprus to transport fuel, not to Israel.

Recently, Israel has been conducting military jamming operations affecting GPS navigation systems in the Eastern Mediterranean. These disruptions have caused ships and aircraft to appear in incorrect locations.

For instance, the interference led to Israeli civilian aircraft being shown in Beirut, Syrian planes appearing in Tel Aviv, and other aircraft circling in the wrong areas.

Similarly, the Libyan tanker Anwar al-Nasr was mistakenly shown as being in Haifa when it was actually in Cyprus.
