Libya’s Presidential Council head, Mohamed Al-Mnifi, has agreed to participate in a national dialogue, as proposed by the UN mission, to address the Central Bank crisis.

This decision aligns with Article 4, paragraphs 5 and 7 of the roadmap issued by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, which transfers authority to the institutions formed by the forum.

Al-Mnifi made this announcement on his “X” account, welcoming the recent statement from the UN Security Council regarding Libya’s situation.

He also urged the Speaker of the House of Representatives to reconsider his decision to unilaterally suspend the political agreement and address the consequences that have arisen from this action.

Furthermore, the Presidential Council leader called for the option of consulting the Libyan people on contentious issues within the electoral laws. He sees this as a means to achieve national consensus, to hold general elections before 17 February 2025. Al-Menfi also expressed support for continuing the work accomplished by the Joint Committee “6+6” between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State.
