On Sunday, the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) called on the United Nations Security Council to end the continuous flow of weapons and mercenaries to Libya.

It demanded the cessation of foreign interference that was threatening the stability of the entire region. In a statement, the Committee welcomed the Security Council’s call for an immediate ceasefire, praising HoR Speaker Ageela Saleh’s political initiative for a permanent ceasefire.

It reiterated the HoR’s commitment to the outcomes of the Berlin Conference, indicating its commitment to cooperate with the committees set up by the UN to investigate violations of human rights.

It also called for the need to join efforts in combating the global COVID-19 pandemic and mobilizing resources to curb the outbreak of the deadly virus.

The Committee stressed the importance of protecting Libya’s national economy and the HoR’s keenness to resume oil exports. An agreement was first needed that guarantees the transparency of revenue spending and its fair distribution among all regions of Libya.
