On Saturday, Libyan lawmaker Dr. Abdel-Salam Nasia, a candidate for the presidency of the Arab Parliament, met with the Speaker of Tunisia’s Parliament, Ibrahim Bouderbala, at Bardo Palace in Tunis to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Nasia conveyed greetings from Ageela Saleh, Speaker of Libya’s Parliament, to Bouderbala and the Tunisian people, highlighting the deep ties and historical bonds between Libya and Tunisia, which continue to grow thanks to their shared borders and cultural connections. Nasia expressed admiration for Tunisia’s ongoing progress and wished the country continued success on its development path.

The Libyan lawmaker emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation across various fields, reinforcing the long-standing relationship between the two nations. He stressed that the partnership between Libya and Tunisia is rooted in mutual respect and shared goals, aimed at building a stronger future through unity and collaboration.

Strengthening ties between the parliaments of both countries was a key topic, with both sides agreeing that cooperation on parliamentary issues is essential to advance common interests. Nasia noted the importance of coordination, particularly within the Arab Parliament, during a time when the Arab world faces multiple challenges requiring joint dialogue and unified action.

As part of the discussions, Nasia outlined his candidacy for the presidency of the Arab Parliament, explaining his goals and vision for promoting greater cooperation and alignment among Arab states. He expressed hope that Tunisia would support his bid, stressing that closer coordination within the Arab Parliament is critical to addressing the region’s challenges.

Bouderbala, in turn, reaffirmed the strength of the historical relationship between Libya and Tunisia. He emphasized Tunisia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Libya across various sectors, reflecting the aspirations of both peoples.

Bouderbala also expressed Tunisia’s support for Libya’s political transition, underscoring the importance of a Libyan-led peace process. He expressed confidence in Libya’s ability to overcome its current difficulties and reiterated Tunisia’s solidarity with Libya throughout its efforts toward stability and reconciliation.

Bouderbala highlighted the significance of parliamentary cooperation and stressed Tunisia’s active involvement in the Arab Parliament. He emphasized the importance of the Arab Parliament in promoting joint Arab efforts, enhancing economic integration, and supporting diplomatic initiatives that advance the interests of the Arab world.

He called for increased coordination among Arab legislators in international forums to defend shared values, achieve unity, and build a brighter future for the region.
