A Libyan government delegation conducted a series of high-level meetings with US officials in Washington, aiming to strengthen international partnerships and enhance key sectors in Libya, according to a statement from the Government of National Unity (GNU).

The delegation met with David Linfield, the White House National Security Advisor for North Africa, to discuss Libya’s plans to stimulate the return of foreign companies and modernise infrastructure in the aviation and oil sectors.

Additionally, the meetings covered the National Oil Corporation’s efforts to boost oil production and Libya’s strategy for coordinating economic policies through the Higher Economic Policy Council.

The discussions also addressed the potential reopening of the US embassy in Tripoli and explored funding options for strategic projects alongside investment guarantees.

In a separate meeting, the delegation met with Joshua Volz, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African and Middle Eastern Affairs.

Talks centred on strengthening energy cooperation, with a particular focus on encouraging US oil companies to invest in Libya’s oil and gas infrastructure, a move expected to bolster the Libyan economy and support development goals.
