Libya’s Waha Oil Company has achieved its highest oil production in over 11 years, according to the National Oil Corporation (NOC) on Wednesday.

The company’s daily crude oil output reached 350,549 barrels, contributing to Libya’s total production of 1,380,470 barrels of oil and condensates over the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, Libya’s gas production also rose, recording 198,190 barrels of oil equivalent.

This milestone comes as the NOC works on a strategic operational plan aimed at boosting production over the next three to five years. The corporation has set an ambitious target to increase oil production to two million barrels per day by the end of 2025.

NOC Chairman Farhat Bengdara underscored the importance of aligning company strategies with the corporation’s vision during a board meeting held last Saturday. He instructed the preparation of a clear roadmap to achieve long-term goals and called for a review of strategies across NOC’s subsidiaries.

The chairman emphasised the need for harmonising subsidiary operations with the corporation’s objectives and strengthening their integration with operational plans.

This significant achievement and the outlined plans signal Libya’s commitment to revitalising its oil and gas sector, which remains a cornerstone of the country’s economy.
