The Sudanese consulate in Kufra, southern Libya, was officially opened in a ceremony attended by senior Libya and Sudanese officials.

According to a statement issued by the Military and Security Chamber under the Libyan National Army (LNA), the consulate aims to provide essential services to the Sudanese community in Libya, particularly those displaced by the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

The statement highlighted the LNA’s role in supporting the initiative, noting that the leadership oversaw the refurbishment of the consulate building and provided necessary supplies to ensure its smooth operation.

“The leadership general has facilitated all requirements to enable the consulate to function effectively and offer essential services to displaced Sudanese in Libya,” the statement read.

This step is part of broader efforts to address the needs of Sudanese migrants and refugees residing in Libya. The consulate is expected to play a vital role in assisting the community with documentation, consular services, and humanitarian support.

The opening of the consulate underscores the importance of regional cooperation in addressing migration and displacement challenges stemming from the crisis in Sudan.

With thousands of Sudanese seeking refuge in Libya, initiatives like this are crucial to alleviating the burdens faced by displaced communities.
