On Monday, the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, announced the decision to summon the designate government led by Osama Hammad for questioning.

The government is expected to provide a detailed review of its accomplishments in 2024 and outline its plans for 2025 during the next parliamentary session.

Speaking during the session, Saleh emphasised that the summoning affirms the legitimacy of the government and its accountability to the legislative authority. He added, “Let us inform the people of what the government has done and intends to do.”

Saleh also welcomed members of the High Council of State who were present at the parliamentary session held in Derna.

He praised their role in addressing Libya’s ongoing crisis and fostering agreements on unifying institutions and holding presidential and parliamentary elections at the earliest opportunity.

Saleh commended the rapprochement between the two councils and expressed hope for its continuation.

The parliamentary session, chaired by Saleh, includes discussions on several significant legislative proposals. These include a draft law establishing the Libyan Emergency and Disaster Management Authority, draft National Reconciliation Law, and a law aimed at combating money laundering and terrorism financing.

The session highlights the House of Representatives’ focus on addressing Libya’s pressing governance and institutional challenges.
