On Monday, the Head of the Liquidity Crisis Committee at the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Ramzi Rajab Al-Agha, confirmed that bank managers in Tarhuna have been threatened with arrest or expulsion by the city’s local council.

The local council which has been appointed by the Government of National Accord (GNA), issued such threats against managers that are thought to be cooperating in the exchange of Sukuks. These are for residents of Tarhuna, who have fled to Benghazi, after that the GNA took control of the city. A sukuk is a form of islamic bonds, issued by banks.
