Libya’s Ras Lanuf Oil and Gas Company has announced the successful restart of its ethylene plant after a three-week shutdown.

In an official statement, the company attributed the shutdown to an issue with the propylene gas compressor, which went offline on 9 December due to false vibration indicators. The situation necessitated a halt in operations for thorough maintenance and safety checks.

The company confirmed that all operations at the ethylene plant are progressing steadily and in compliance with approved operation manuals, safety protocols, and equipment protection measures. Gas ethylene has now reached the cold storage tanks, marking a significant step toward normal production.

The Ras Lanuf Board of Directors expressed its gratitude to the national workforce whose efforts were instrumental in the plant’s restart. The company highlighted their commitment to adhering to safety and operational excellence, ensuring both the safety of personnel and the efficiency of the plant’s machinery.

The resumption of operations at the ethylene plant is expected to boost the company’s production capabilities, reinforcing its position as a critical player in Libya’s oil and gas sector. This move also underscores the resilience and technical expertise of Libyan professionals in addressing operational challenges and ensuring continuity in vital industries.
