IOM: 95 Migrants At Risk of Drowning After Fleeing Libya

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM), announced on Monday that there are approximately 95 migrants in the central Mediterranean, at risk of drowning after fleeing Libya.

In a statement, the IOM called on all states, and ships to abide by the law, and address the critical case of illegal immigrants at sea.

Most migrants make the perilous journey in ill-equipped, and unsafe rubber dinghies.

The IOM said last month that its estimated death toll among migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean since 2014 has surpassed 20,000.
