Libyan Airlines announced that it will resume its regular international flights, after a four-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

In a statement, the company explained that the decision will be restricted to departing flights only.

Returning flights will resume after a decision is issued by the relevant authorities. The company pointed out that the first flights will take off, from Misrata International Airport, to Istanbul, Turkey.

On the 15th of March, Libya closed its land and air borders, along with a vast majority of countries worldwide, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Libya currently has 2,056 active cases, 553 recoveries, and 60 deaths.

Since it originated from China last December, the virus has claimed over 647,000 lives in 188 countries.
