The Libyan National Army’s (LNA) Military Media Division has released footage of a paratrooper exercise conducted by the 36th Special Forces Battalion in Benghazi. The drill follows the completion of advanced military training in Belarus by the battalion’s personnel.

According to an official statement on the division’s Facebook page, over 300 soldiers participated in the exercise, demonstrating their professional skills and combat readiness. The training aimed to enhance operational capabilities, reflecting the advanced techniques and strategies learned in Belarus.

On Thursday, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army’s Ground Forces, attended the graduation ceremony of a new batch of Special Forces recruits from the 36th Battalion. The ceremony marked the completion of intensive training programmes designed to strengthen Libya’s military capabilities.

A statement from the Military Media Division, published on Friday, highlighted that the graduation of this new unit aligns with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar’s directives. The initiative focuses on boosting the efficiency of the LNA’s combat units through development programmes that equip soldiers with modern military expertise.

The LNA has prioritised military modernisation, conducting joint training exercises with international partners to improve combat readiness. The recent deployment of paratroopers in Benghazi serves as a public demonstration of the enhanced capabilities of Libya’s Special Forces.

Military analysts suggest that these exercises are part of the LNA’s broader strategy to enhance counterterrorism operations and maintain territorial security amid Libya’s ongoing instability.
