The Head of Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar, announced on Tuesday that the DNA extractors used to detect cases of COVID-19 had run out.

This came in a message sent by Al-Najjar to the Deputy Minister of Health for the Government of National Accord (GNA), Muhammad Haitham Issa, and Khalifa Al-Bakoush, Chairman of the Scientific Consultative Committee for Combating the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Al-Najjar urged them to address the competent authorities, to provide DNA extractors urgently to the NCDC. The virus has begun to spread rapidly throughout Libya, with an estimated 3,400 active cases, and 93 deaths.
