On Wednesday, patrols belonging to the Security Directorate of Sebha began implementing a curfew. This was issued by the Supreme Coronavirus Committee of the Libyan Interim Government, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In press statements, Hussein Na’em, the spokesperson for the Sebha Security Directorate, said that its Director issued orders for the patrols from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

He pointed out that alerting citizens will take place “through loudspeakers, to take precautionary measures such as wearing masks, social distancing, closing shops, and remaining at home except for the most urgent needs”.

Sebha, in particular, witnessed a rise in the number of infections, and deaths due to the rapid spread of the virus.
