Deputy Prime Minister of Libya’s eastern-based government, Ali Al-Qatrani, met on Tuesday in Benghazi with a delegation representing a coalition of leading Turkish companies to discuss expanding investment cooperation in vital sectors, including oil, infrastructure, construction, and mining.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office and was attended by Member of Parliament Idris Omran. The visiting Turkish business delegation included representatives from the International Working Group, Berkshire Holding, MEC Construction, HBC Global Industries, Gulak Oil Services, Al-Mari Investment & International Trade, NOVA Investment, and Eugene Construction.
The companies showcased a visual presentation detailing their projects in various international markets, outlining their operational capacity and investment interest in Libya. The delegation also shared observations from their recent field visits across Libyan cities, signaling their readiness to begin concrete activities, particularly in Benghazi.
Al-Qatrani welcomed the Turkish delegation and stressed the strategic importance of international investment in Libya’s post-conflict recovery. He emphasized that the current security and stability in eastern Libya, largely due to the efforts of the Libyan National Army (LNA) under Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has paved the way for serious economic engagement.
He reiterated the government’s commitment, under Prime Minister Osama Hammad, to creating a favorable environment for foreign investors. This includes legislative reforms, the establishment of a dedicated Ministry of Investment, and coordination with the Reconstruction and Development Fund led by Belgassem Haftar.
Al-Qatrani noted that Libya’s reconstruction and economic revitalization efforts rely on strategic partnerships with international firms. He encouraged the Turkish companies to take advantage of available opportunities and to contribute to the rebuilding of key sectors, particularly in energy and infrastructure.
After the meeting, the Turkish delegation expressed strong interest in beginning operations in Libya, praising the level of hospitality, professionalism, and readiness they encountered. They affirmed their commitment to long-term cooperation and participation in Libya’s redevelopment.
