Benghazi has begun welcoming parliamentary delegations from across Asia and Africa ahead of the Second General Conference of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council, which is scheduled to take place on June 15 and 16.
The conference is expected to bring together lawmakers, parliamentary leaders, and representatives from numerous countries in a major gathering aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two continents.
The event will be held under the theme “The Future Vision of African-Asian Relations” and is expected to serve as an important platform for dialogue, consultation, and the exchange of experiences among legislative institutions.
Organizers say the conference will focus on enhancing parliamentary cooperation and building stronger partnerships to address shared political, economic, and development challenges.
As part of the preparations, international delegations have started arriving in Benghazi through Benina International Airport. Among the first to arrive were parliamentary representatives from The Gambia and Tanzania, who were received by officials from the Libyan House of Representatives.
Additional delegations from participating countries are expected to arrive over the coming days ahead of the conference’s official opening.
Participants are expected to discuss a broad range of issues affecting both Asia and Africa, including economic cooperation, sustainable development, regional stability, and opportunities for expanding trade and investment. The conference will also examine the role of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting dialogue, strengthening international partnerships, and supporting peace and development efforts.
The gathering is expected to feature specialized sessions and discussions aimed at improving cooperation among legislative bodies and identifying common approaches to regional and global challenges. Delegates will also explore ways to enhance institutional collaboration and deepen ties between parliamentary organizations across the two continents.
