On Monday, German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, called for the resumption of direct talks between the warring Libyan parties.

In a joint press conference held with his Libyan counterpart Mohamed Siala, Maas emphasized that Germany adheres to the outputs of the Berlin Conference to resolve the crisis. Berlin rejects all military escalation and foreign interference in Libya.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring a fair distribution of oil revenues.

The German FM warned that the military escalation in Libya “poses a great danger due to the continuing arming operations.” He pointed out his readiness to provide support in demining projects and humanitarian work. Earlier today, Maas arrived in Tripoli on a surprise visit to Libya, with the aim of contributing to the de-escalation of the conflict there.
