Municipal Elections in Libya Draw Over 161K Voters

The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) announced that 161,684 citizens participated in Libya’s municipal elections, according to preliminary statistics released after the close of polling centers.

Voter Turnout at 71%
HNEC confirmed that the initial voter turnout reached 71% of the electorate who had collected their voter cards. The figure reflects broad participation across different municipalities, demonstrating strong public engagement in the democratic process.

Elections Across Libya
More than 104,000 voters had already cast their ballots by 3 p.m., with turnout continuing to rise before the polls closed. The Commission praised the commitment of voters and electoral staff who ensured the smooth running of the election day.

The municipal elections are seen as an important step in strengthening local governance, allowing Libyans to elect representatives for their local councils.
