The National Oil Corporation (NOC) of Libya held a pivotal meeting with international oilfield services company SLB at its headquarters on Thursday, aiming to review and enhance the company’s operational footprint in the country.

Masoud Suleiman, Chairman of the NOC, emphasised the importance of strengthening SLB’s capabilities in well services and other key areas that support Libya’s oil sector. The discussion highlighted the company’s role in providing efficient, high-quality services to local and international oil companies operating in the country.

During the meeting, Suleiman underscored the significance of SLB’s contribution to sustainable development initiatives, particularly those that advance national technical skills. The discussion also explored the provision of SLB-owned software licences for Libyan universities, a move designed to bolster academic research and technical training in the energy sector.

“Enhancing the operational capacity of service providers such as SLB is essential for the long-term growth and sustainability of Libya’s oil industry,” Suleiman stated. He added that collaboration with international partners ensures that national staff are equipped with the necessary training and tools to contribute effectively to the sector.

SLB’s representatives outlined the company’s current operations in Libya and shared plans to expand support across multiple oilfields. They also highlighted ongoing programmes aimed at developing local expertise, improving efficiency in well operations, and implementing modern technologies to enhance production.

The meeting reflects Libya’s broader strategy to integrate international expertise with national development objectives, ensuring that energy resources are managed effectively while empowering local talent.

With Libya seeking to strengthen its oil sector, such collaborations are expected to play a crucial role in enhancing both productivity and sustainable workforce development.
